| Cancer Connection is building a strong, mutually beneficial network of support for individuals and families touched by cancer. Our services are free and offered in collaboration with cancer treatment centers, physicians, hospitals, faith communities, businesses, and other cancer-related organizations.
One-on-One Mentor Matching
We offer one-on-one, emotional support for cancer patients and family members as long as needed. Every Cancer Connection volunteer has personally experienced cancer, either as a survivor, or by caring for a loved one with cancer. Individuals requesting support are matched with volunteer survivors or caregivers who have experienced the same type of cancer under similar circumstances.
Support & Networking Groups
Cancer Connection sponsors five on-going cancer support groups. We have a group for anyone currently experiencing any cancer diagnosis; a group for the family members and caregivers of individuals dealing with cancer; and a group that is specifically for those with a colon cancer diagnosis. We also offer a networking group for cancer survivors who are interested in sharing ways to maintain their hard-won health.
Educational Classes (click link to see calendar)
Cancer Connection offers classes on a variety of topics of interest to those dealing with a cancer diagnosis and their families. These include guided imagery, caregiver support training, art, scrapbooking, journaling & other expressive therapies, spirituality, and Reiki. We believe no response to cancer would be complete without arming you with every available resource - both external and internal. Therefore, we offer an integral approach that seeks to heal the body, the mind, and the spirit.
Referrals to Local Services
Cancer Connection's knowledgeable staff can listen to all your concerns and then put you in touch with other local organizations that address a variety of psychosocial needs for those living with cancer. Some of these needs include: patient financial assistance programs, transportation to the doctor, where to find a wig or head covering, help with household chores and grocery shopping, help for children when a parent is diagnosed with cancer, etc.
